Thanks to everyone from the 5055 crew for testing and giving feedback/bug reports!
This patch focuses on bugfixes and quality of life, while hopefully not adding too many new bugs itself.
Whenever you have the option to select a new skill in a run, there’s a chance it’ll spawn as a rare variant instead. These skills are stronger than their normal counterparts, and will have a purple background to help indicate this. They also stack independently from their normal versions, allowing you to get significantly stronger with enough investment.
NPCs in the Nexus that aren’t unlocked yet will have a shadow version of themselves present instead of being fully invisible. You can also talk to the shadow to get a hint of what this NPC might be for.
The Shopkeeper now starts unlocked
The Armsmaster now gives you an item level 1 sword and shield the first time you talk to him.
Strong Swings now adds 2 physical damage, up from 1 damage
Mid-run skills no longer weight strongly towards skills of the same type. In the past picking a skill meant similar skills were 3 times as likely to appear, but in practice this just made the skill pool feel very small/boring
There’s now a pause screen. Access this with Escape or your controller’s Start button. You can also access the options menu from this screen, and actually close the game without alt-f4
A small disk icon will appear in the bottom right corner when the game auto-saves
The Damage Bonus skill has a new icon and a clearer description
The Monster Level modifier now correctly explains what it does
The Debilitating Strikes tooltip now correctly explains what it does
Item tooltips now always show equipment comparisons
Added support for a high contrast mouse cursor
Tooltips should no longer scale weirdly and spin under certain circumstances
Buffs now respect the game being paused
Choosing sell all/none at the end of a level no longer goes full stonks on you
