Day 15 Update

Death For Growth
A browser game made in HTML5

Today was a pretty minimally productive day due to having terrible sleep and also getting stumped by a SUPER simple issue with my pause detection methods. Hopefully have most of that worked out so there shouldn't be any weird inconsistencies in my pause mechanics beyond one last issue with the game unpausing for brief moments in between menus, but I'll be keeping an eye out for any other issues.

Either way, minimally productive changelog up ahead, but should be making some decent progress this week ironing out the last remaining save issues! For now, here's them notes, and in case you /didn't/ know already, I stream a vast majority of this game's development over at twitch.tv/setolyx! So feel free to come on by

Changelog:

  • rewrote filename extraction method
  • reduced its use in drawing of save file menu 
  • fixed ridiculous issue with UI that somehow wasn't causing WAY more problems with pause-detection 
  • rewrote logic for determining if an open window will pause the game

Known Issues:

  • game now very briefly unpauses during menus 🤦‍♂️
  • still haven't fixed save file name issues in web build, might just have to deal with it for now
