This project has been great, and I am so happy with all that I have learned from it. My next steps will be to start using a more powerful game engine that can create more dynamic visual effects, such as shadows, light occlusion, and other specifics. I have achieved my goal of learning a lot while developing this game, and I am excited to move to the next project as I formally close this one.
In addition to all of this, I have retitled the game to "A Forest Scene," as I think it better represents what the game grew into as it neared completion.
If there are any game-breaking bugs, I will upload patches to the same project page. It's been great working on this!
