The start of story mode

Too Many Sheep
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux

I want the new game to include a story mode, something like what you experience when you play a game like Overcooked or Super Mario 3D world. Nothing too important to the gameplay, but something that grabs your interest and strings the levels together as they get more complicated.

Two things I've had to crack for this. What is the story, and how do I do a cutscene to propel the story along?

Today's release brings in the beginning of that. The story I'm going with now is that we're in a world where robot dogs have taken over from sheepdogs, and over the years, the number of sheepdogs has dwindled. But there's now a big problem: the robot dogs have stopped working, and only one dog knows how to round up all the sheep. That dog needs your help!

I'm still refining my process to make the characters; with this build, you'll see a dog I've created that balances cute looking and easy to model. The method I've got now is something I'm more confident with to create more animals that look good and won't swallow up too much time in the development process.

A couple of dogs that lead up to the one you see in the latest build can be seen below:

Dog 6 - a labrador

Dog 7 - a german shepherd
I plan to use this technique to model a version of the dog to feature on the character select screen.
