v1.3.2 - Better tutorials, options menu, and skippable intro

Braincell
A downloadable silly cat game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android

Hello, Braincells!

Another small update, this time addressing some feedback from one of our testers (thank you @NoUselessTech!).

It was noted that the tutorials don't really explain the Dash button, or the keyboard/gamepad buttons for passing the braincell, so someone who didn't see or read the instructions on the Itch page would miss those. Bit of an oversight on my part, so I added those instructions to the tutorials. All of the controls are now present and accounted for (except for the Pause button, gotta find a good place to explain that).

In addition, while not yet a true "Options" menu, I added a button for that to the main menu screen and rearranged the buttons a bit.

The menu right now just shows the controls, but eventually there will be proper options for things like:

  • Music / SFX
  • Rumble (already implemented but not enabled for now)
  • Save/load
  • Cat colors? Cat name?

But that's for another day.

One last little quality-of-life change is that the intro splash screen (the cat one, not the Unity one) can now be skipped with Enter/Escape on keyboard, and Cancel (Gamepad "East", B/Circle/etc.) or Submit  (Gamepad "South", A/X/etc) on controllers. It's not a long intro, but long enough that I wanted a way to skip past it while testing.

And as a side note, I am still working on the mobile version slowly, but these additional buttons introduce some challenges for a touchscreen. I found a nice package for on-screen buttons that I will be playing with, so hopefully I can get that working smoothly.

Anyway, that's all for now!
