Fan Content
Posted March 19, 2023 by KDRGN
Hey friends! This isn't the post with the post-mortem or the future plans yet. But some people were making (or talking about making) fan content, which is frankly amazing to me? So I figured I'd toss a quick post out there to make it clear that (a) I'm cool with this, as long as (b) some basic rules are followed.
Also, this isn't part of the policy, but I'd love it if you shared the content with me! Actually, link it in the comments below. Share it with the rest of the class. You're cool.
Anyway, the policy:
Fan content policy
You can make fan content based on this game if you want, as long as you follow the rules outlined in this policy.
- Your fan content must comply with applicable law, may not violate the rights of others, and must not be defamatory, offensive, objectionable, or harmful to others.
- Your fan content must be non-commercial. Three examples of what I mean by this: Putting fan art on a page with ads is fine. Commissioning an artist to draw your OC is fine. Selling an original work set in this world is not fine.
- You have to acknowledge in some visible way that it is fan content, as opposed to official content (or content that I've endorsed), and you have to make clear where it's from. A link back to the itch.io page would be optimal, but there's no specific form you have to adhere to.
- Finally, I can revoke your right to make and share fan content at any time for any reason, or no reason at all, and I retain all applicable rights.
