Heyho Everybody,
So, I worked a bit more on Foot Cuisine…
Why? Well, the other day I watched a presentation about gamedev by Joao Antunes (he made a game called “Elon Musk, Battle Simulator” and much more XD) and I got inspired. And so I decided to make the updates Foot Cuisine needed.
Now, if you score with a combo of 4 or higher the timer increases by one second.
This was a much requested update from the feedback I got after the jam was over.
Check. If you have a combo equal or greater than 4 every score increases the timer by one.
Until now, every time you scored you got your current velocity simply increased depending on the current combo.
I changed it so an impulse is a applied to the player with a random offset dependent on the current velocity. Now, if there isn’t any food items in your current trajectory there is a some chance it will change just enough so you can continue your strike instead of resetting it.
Now, when spawning, they start with a random torque and a small initial velocity.
Trying to mitigate the times you have a high score and your character is just floating in the kitchen without any food items near it. With this change there is the change a item may enter the cauldron by itself giving you some impulse or wonder into your path.
I also added a new item (Orange Slice)
The player started in a corner of the map. Why? Why? Now the player character starts in the center.
One complaint I got was that the cauldrons where not obvious. Now they are in the middle of the map making them more apparent and giving some dynamisms to the kitchen area. I also added an idle animation and a scoring animation.
I changed up the tilesets.
I also want to change the icon of the game (Not sure I’ve got around to do it by the time I publish this devlog)
When you use the right mouse button to move a “helper” line shows up to help you aim. The same for kicking the food.
When you start the game two lines explaining the two buttons used by the game show up. When you use each one they disappear and only reappear if you restart the game.
I’m really proud of this game. It is a fun little game and I’m happy I finally got around to do this well deserved changes.
Hope you enjoy it!
