Godot 4 has been steaming ahead with its release candidates in anticipation of an imminent official release, so the course has now jumped from targeting RC2 to the brand new RC6.
You can read the official blog post for this release candidate here.
I have been hard at work focusing on the written side of the course and have two great new chapters for the making a 3D platformer guide:
- Chapter 4: Jumping and Boundaries
- Chapter 5: Gridmaps and Blockouts
These go into detail on creating world boundaries to keep your player characters within a play area, adding jumping to rigid bodies, creating prototype levels with the Gridmap node, and creating custom complex shapes with CSG shapes.
I have been happy with the progress on this topic and now only three chapters remain.
My most pressing attention is on preparing for the official Godot 4 release, so expect a video on YouTube soon. Following that I will be finishing these three chapters, then moving onto gamifying some more of the core demos.
Thanks for reading and see you in the next one 🥳
