Me and My First Visual Novel 我的第一部视觉小说

    昨天上传了游戏包,今天才想起来要写点总结。

    I uploaded the game package yesterday and only today did I remember to write some summary about this project.

    这是我第一次制作独立游戏,选择视觉小说是因为我本人只会写剧本而且不会编程,现在又有比较好用的工具visual novel maker,想要做出一个以剧情为主体的游戏这个工具是最合适的,对我来说视觉小说是最现实的把自己写的故事实现出来的方式。

    This is my first game and I chose visual novels because I only write scripts and I don't know how to code, and now I have a good tool called Visual Novel Maker, which is ideal for making a story oriented game. To me visual novel is the best way to tell my stories.

    这个故事本身在几年以前就已经成形,不过那个时候野心还没有那么大,没有形成完整的世界观,徐澍这个角色只是一个孤立的角色,一个没有什么背景的犯罪天才。她的第一个故事其实和这个游戏没有任何关系,是她潜入一所大学宿舍盗窃,结果遇上了另一个入室抢劫的人,她装作是住在宿舍里的学生给那个人下毒然后脱身的无聊故事,没有什么想法在里面,单纯是写着玩的。

    The story itself took shape a few years ago, but back then ambition wasn't as great as it could have been to form a complete fictional world, and the character of Jiu was just an isolated character, a criminal genius with little background. Her first story actually had nothing to do with this game, it was a boring story about her infiltrating a university dormitory to steal, only to meet another home invader, who she pretends to be a student living in the dormitory to poison and get away with it, with no idea in it, simply written for fun.

她再次出现的时候,就是我构思游戏里这个故事的时候,当时的想法是这段故事是一个更长的小说里嵌入的回忆,那个更长的故事最后没有写成,只有这段回忆留了下来。后来我又重写了一次,在那里故事的真相是叙述者推测出来的,徐澍没有直接登场。现有的主要情节当时都有了,比如徐澍在学校受到霸凌,比如谋杀,但是在故事的原型里,那些人具体是怎么对待她的没有写出来,只是一笔带过。

Her reappearance was when I conceived this story in the game, the idea being that the story was a memory embedded in a much longer novel, that longer story didn't end up being written, and only this memory remained. I later rewrote it again, where the truth of the story was speculated by the narrator and Jiu did not make a direct appearance. The main existing plots were all there at the time, such as Jiu's bullying at school and the murder, but in the prototype of the story, exactly how those people treated her was not written out.

这个游戏剧本是这个故事的完全形态,一切都完整了,叙述者参与了故事,徐澍详细讲述了她在学校里遇到了什么,为什么她最终选择杀人。那个出现在河边和隐藏对话里的神秘角色是同世界观下另一个故事里的主角,她和徐澍有秘密的联系,在这里就不揭开了。如果这个视觉小说系列没有下文,我们就当作她是一个神秘人吧。

This game script is the full form of this story. Everything is complete. The narrator is involved in the story and Jiu details what she encountered at school and why she ultimately chose to kill. The mysterious character who appears at the river and in hidden conversation is the protagonist of another story in the same world, and she and Jiu have a secret connection that will not be revealed here. If there is no more to come in this visual novel series, let's just pretend she is a mystery.

    整个世界观都是虚构的,虽然在本作中没有太多体现,但其实这个世界里只有一个一个的城,正如简介页面里说的,这个故事发生在H城。徐澍是虚构的人,学校和谋杀自然也是虚构的,这里只有一点内容在现实中有迹可循,就是徐澍在学校遇到的事是一个人的亲身经历,我只是挑选重点写了下来,而且那些事原本不是发生在学校里的,写进学校里只是为了方便理解,实际上这样的小团体可能发生在任何意想不到的地方。由于我不可能一下回忆起所有发生在“徐澍”身上的事,以后我可能还会修改这部分内容,增加一些对话。

The entire world is fictional, and although it is not reflected much in this work, there is actually only cities in this world (there are no conceptions as countries), and as the intro page says, this story takes place in City H. Jiu is a fictional person, and naturally the school and the murder are also fictional. There is only one point of content here that is traceable in reality, and that is whatJiu encountered at the school was someone's personal experiences, and I have only selected the highlights to write down. Those things did not originally happen at the school, and they are written into the school just to make it easier to understand. In fact such a small group could happen in any unexpected place. As it is impossible for me to recall everything that happened to "Jiu" at once, I may revise this section and add some dialogue later.

    虽然专门为这个游戏写剧本的时间也就两三个月,但其实从这个故事成形到最终定稿经历了几年的时间。比较糊弄的其实就是美术,受条件限制我不能找专门的美术,所以全部立绘和背景都是我自己画的,用时相对来说比较短,一边制作一边就画了,就我个人来说算是不错了。徐澍是最难画的一个,简介页面里说过她长得像死人一样,我的画技很难实现这个效果,我觉得最后画出来的就只是丑而已。神秘人是我最满意的一个立绘,她看上去就很可靠,很振奋人心。

Although it only took two or three months to write the script for this game, it actually took a couple of years from the time the story took shape to the final draft. With restricted conditions I couldn't find a specialist artist, so I did all the artworks myself, which took relatively little time. Jiu was the most difficult one to draw. The intro page said she looked like a dead person, and my drawing skills were difficult to achieve this effect. I think the final result was just ugly. The mysterious character is the one drawing I'm most happy with. She just looks so reliable and uplifting.

我没有特意找字体,我也不会设计字体,所以字也都是我自己写的。下次我会把英文字体搞好一点。音乐本来是一筹莫展的,但是幸好vn maker有相关的dlc可以购买,我就买了一些可商用的音乐包,所以音乐反而成了这个作品里最专业的部分,感谢dlc。

I didn't specifically look for fonts, and I don't know how to design fonts, so I wrote all the words myself. Next time I'll make better English fonts. The music was a problem, but luckily vn maker had dlcs for it, so I bought some music packs available for commercial use, so the music actually becomes the most professional part of the work.     英文翻译是在最后一刻决定添上去的,很大程度是为了上传itch,我知道这里英文用户最多,所以希望能多点玩家接触这个游戏。翻译对我来说还比较容易。

The English translation was a last-minute decision to add it, largely for the sake of uploading itch, and I know this is the place with the most English-speaking users, so I wanted to expose more players to the game. The translation was relatively easy for me.

    VN maker是个好软件,但我是个新手,在使用过程中遇到过很多问题,幸好我在网上提问的时候遇到了一些热心的软件用户,他们逐个帮我解决了这些问题,我自己也摸索出了一些问题的答案。

    VN maker is a good software, but I am a novice. I have encountered many problems in the process of using it. Fortunately I met some enthusiastic software users when I asked questions on the Internet, and they helped me solve these problems one by one. I also figured out the answers to some questions myself.

    这个游戏在上传的时候就基本完成了,如上文所说即使要更新应该也就是剧本上的微调,不会有大的改动。

    This game was basically finished when it was uploaded, and as mentioned above even if there were to be an update it should be a minor tweak to the script and no major changes.

    很多朋友一直在鼓励我,表示期待我个人制作的游戏,我也很感谢他们,本来一个没有回报也没有热度甚至没有第二个人参加的项目是很难坚持下来的。我相信游戏是文学的新形式,这也是为什么我原本只是想写小说,最后却选择把它们做成游戏。我希望通过视觉小说给我的故事以生命,让更多人能看到它们。

    Many of my friends have been encouraging me and have expressed their anticipation of my game, and I am grateful to them. It would have been difficult to keep going with a project that didn't pay off or get many players or even a second producer. I believe games are a new form of literature, which is why I originally just wanted to write novels but ended up choosing to make them into games. I hope to give life to my stories through visual novels so that more people can see them.
