The main new feature is that long-distance travel requires much less babysitting. When the wind turns foul for your course the ship stays on the nearest tack and continues in accelerated time, and you can press a key to change tack instantly.
Sailing model changes
- Fore-and-aft sails more easily damaged
- The automatic sail plans take in sail more quickly as the wind strengthens
- The rudder is slightly more effective
- Griping reduced when making sternway
- "Helm amidships" order
Other features
- Splashes from waves against the ship - the sea looks wetter
- Landscape resolution is doubled
- Slightly more varied landscape colours, including snow
- More diegetic map
- Display of days from the last port visited; ship's bell
- The enemy attacks automatically in the battle scenario
- Random start date in world scenario
Known issues
- The sea is glitchy, and sometimes disappears altogether in heavy weather
- A "trial version" watermark has appeared at the bottom right -- this is a Unity thing, not the game.
