January IRL update

Fates Collide
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android

Hey guys and girls!

Long time no see! Kinda. Idk, at least in any public post here. 😅

Anyway, I’ve got some “good” Katana life news to share, and some other information so everyone is up to date and to continue with my transparency.

First of all, I am proud to say I managed to pass the first semester of the uni without issues 📈. Ok, not all of the results are here yet, still waiting for some grades, but I am 99% positive the remaining ones are a passing grade. It wasn’t an easy decision, but I am really glad everyone was so supportive of my university focus and didn’t mind me taking January off to focus on all the exams. If I worked on the game, I wouldn’t be able to pass all of it first try, nor would the game product be its best either, as I am sure I’d make plenty of mistakes. A big thank you for being on board ^^😊😊

So where does that leave us atm?

Naturally, there is still one more semester of regular classes, so I am by no means suddenly a free man. However, the 2nd semester is a bit easier (due to less classes => less exams) so at least I’ll be able to start working on the game again, although at a still slower speed.

Another thing in the future is me moving out. While I am fully aware I currently don’t earn enough to fully support myself (don’t take this as some cry for support please, just a fact), I do have a bit saved now and I strongly believe when I both finish this years uni classes and move out, that I can finally match other devs in terms of development speed. And development speed > more updates > more reach. While some might ask why I even rush to move out, not only is it quite annoying to work at home without my "peace", but my parents are in danger of being jobless, and by no means do I want them to take care of me as well.

If all goes well, I am hoping to both finish 2nd semester in first attempt and move out around May/June. When I am over those two obstacles, which will take quite a lot of my “free” time, I’ll properly announce it and hopefully I can back my claims on faster dev time then. I won’t rush with writing my thesis and graduating (I’d die if I had to fit that in this timeframe 😅), so that part is probably for somewhere in Autumn/Winter, when I can do it at my own pace.

I won’t give any kind of ideas when Episode 4 might drop due to how stressful it would be if I can’t meet the deadline, but I will return again to the twice a month progress reports, and all other patreon content for now. So stay tuned for that!

Once again, thanks for the support and kind messages, be it supporters, friends, or any other players.

Stay safe,

Kat <3
