I added a blur/smear affect to the attack animation. This is not built into the animation itself, so you can move it around freely. They are their own sprites. I included gifs of the placement I'd suggest. I did two versions - one with a basic smear where you'd have to spawn in a weapon and the other with a weapon shape included into the smear for a fast indication that the character is holding a weapon.
