Isn’t this a jam project from 3 years ago? Yes.
Is it in active development now? Yes, YES!
For the past couple of months we’ve been working hard on refactoring the jam code for Quest Giver to make it more workable in the long term, as well as adding some features to make the game more accessible:
🕸️ A web build
🐁 Mouse controls
📺 16:9 aspect ratio
🌐 Translation support
Going forward we’ll continue to focus on these less “flashy” features that make the project more robust before adding more gameplay mechanics. Some things we’re working on now include:
🎮 Gamepad controls
📜 A scenario editor GUI
🏫 Tutorial hints
⚙️ Better back-end handling of game assets
We believe these features are important for the long-term viability of Quest Giver, and while we’re excited to focus on new gameplay (like writing more scenarios and adding multi-hero, multi-day quests), it’s important to make a strong foundation to build up from! No point in adding complex quests and a player inventory system if the UI is too shakily built to handle them.
All this to say, this jam game is being upgraded to a full game. And that’s it for this week!
