Experimental build: Bones and a stamina system

Predatory Pursuit
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux

This experimental build brings two major features

Stamina

You cannot run forever. You have three major stats related to your stamina:

  • Energy is drained when you move. Crouch-walking is relatively expensive, since it’s tiring to move like that!
  • Oxygen is consumed to restore energy.
  • Your heartrate affects how quickly you can restore oxygen. If you are low on oxygen (or being threatend by Fen), your heartrate will rise. A high heartrate makes your breathing louder (there’s no actual sound right now, though)

The numbers are probably unbalanced right now. You can view the stats in the debug menu – which you can now keep open by ticking the “Keep Open” box (it’s overlapped with the timescale slider right now, oops).

You can now sprint by holding shift and tapping space. Sprinting only works forwards, makes a ton of noise, and consumes a huge amount of energy.

Bones

These are disabled by default; check the Content menu.

When Fen digests prey, bones can be left behind. It will belch these up once the prey has been completely broken down (when the prey’s “integrity” reaches zero, represented on the stomach debug panel as “integrity”). Bones dissolve after a few seconds. I’ll probably make that adjustable later (I also want Fen to be able to stomp on them).

The bones are currently just boxes. I’ll add actual models later.

(update: there are now Actual Bones)
