For this week's brief we were told to introduce nature into the games we were creating.
I (Seán) looked at this week's prompt and thought about nature. For me it was the serenity you can feel by being in nature. So I built up a new area where you could punch a log. a peaceful beach, with the sound of waves crashing on the shore and quite music glistening around the sky. I endeavored to make an area where the player could relax and meditate. The challenging part was to get the sound to move and sway in the way I wanted to help to give the most impact without being overwhelming.
The way I (Darragh) tackled this week's prompt was by creating a new experience from scratch. The prompt being nature I decided to think outside the box and attempt to create a game where the player would emulate an animal, which in my mind would be the closest thing to fully embracing nature. I decided to take inspiration from an already existing game Gorilla Tag which has the player move around with their hands using physics-based movement. It was a challenge to get the movement feeling right but once I overcame the issues I faced, the movement was very satisfying to use.
