Arena of Might was/is my 7drl2022, the original version is still up and playable. For the last few 7drls I like to play with different movement systems. I've made momentum based movement with z levels and a full 3d movement game on grids so it seemed like VR movement would be the logical next step =D
I knew finding judges with VR equipment would be a hurdle and I not sure how much of an overlap the traditional roguelike and VR games space has but I had a LOT of fun working on it during the 7drl and in the second half of 2022.
Right after the 7drl I tried to keep the same level of manic pace and I burned myself out pretty hard. It actually caused me to abandon the project for half the year. Once I got back into it tho I took a more relaxed pace. I was implementing only a single feature at a time, one week at a time. Those tiny grains of sand turned into a mound and then a mountain and by the end of 2022 I had finished everything that I had planned in the 7drl design document!
That means the game is finished! Not something I expected but there it is!
The game now has all the planned features of the original 2022 7DRL design document! I don't think I will return to Arena of Might, but I don't think I'm done with the Cobblestone Grime universe. I've been pondering a Cobblestone Grime: Adventures' Tales. Replacing the arenas with small and quick to play procedurally generated dungeons and missions.
