December update

PENITENCE
A downloadable game

Hello!

What have I been working on the last four weeks? Two illnesses for a start: some fluey type thing that made me achey and lethargic for a week (not covid), and barely a week later I now have some head cold thing (also not covid) that has drained me of energy yet again. So not the best month overall, but I have managed to get some bits done on PENITENCE - time for the bullet points!

  • Remembered I could use ProBuilder to do some basic art asset editing, and used it to chop the top of the big bulkhead doors that were really getting in the way of the camera view
  • Spent DAYS working on the new UI for the notepad, driving myself mad trying to figure out what should be a simple process (make a scrolling text box that always starts at the top of the text and resizes based on content) but turned out to be a treacherous hunt for arcane knowledge hidden across multiple documentation pages and forums - however, I survived! And I came back with said knowledge, now a master of the scroll, that I shall never touch again in case I somehow break it...
  • Added buttons to the above notepad UI for multiple texts, and made them be visible/not visible based on whether there is a next text in that direction
  • Added Advanced Dissolve to the project in place of the previous fade system. Took me about an hour to have it integrated and working, and another 1-2 to tweak so it was how I wanted it - great stuff!
  • Made a start on my playtest notes (see last update) beginning with the first level and making good progress so far in terms of bug fixing, tweaks and adding some audio
