It's here! It's finally here! After months of work, we've finally worked our way up to including the Perk system.
So what is it?
First, there are two different kinds of perks: Temporary Perks, and Permanent Perks. You can pick one of each when you're in town, from a random selection of 3 different perks offered each time. There are 28 new perks in total available.
Temporary Perks can be acquired at the Diner and the Pawn Shop. You can tell they're temporary by the little sticker next to them. Temporary Perks only last for a single level, and then wear off.
The Diner's temporary perks give you new abilities and upgrade your current ones.
The Pawn Shop's temporary perks affect the next level, not you.
Permanent Perks can be acquired only at the Pawn Shop. Once you've unlocked these perks, they remain on your person until you are arrested, at which point your perks are reset to empty.
When you head to down, you now visit the Diner first. Once you've grabbed your perk there, you are allowed to visit the Pawn shop.
If you already have a temporary perk active, you won't see the permanent version of it spawn at the Pawn shop. And if you already have the permanent version of a perk, you won't see it appear at the diner anymore as a meal option (so no, perks do not stack the same effect). So pick wisely!
We've also added a way for you to check your current progress at the Post office. This will play into the story we're currently crafting.
Don't worry about it.
With this update also comes a couple other major changes: You no longer regenerate health by default, and you no longer start with the Wirecutter. Instead, both of these are now perks. Additionally, throwing a heavy loot item at the car now places it inside the car.
And that's it! We'll be taking a short break this coming week or so, with another update hopefully coming before Christmas.
Thanks for playing, and enjoy!
