Hello everyone! It's been far too long since my last devlog. Development on chapter 2 just went on steadily and I haven't shared many updates here on itch, so time to catch up!
First up, a showcase of some of the new environmental assets to give chapter 2 a proper "mining complex" feel:
But these aren't just for show (and burning)! In chapter 2, I've been experimenting a bit with making props that can be interacted with in more ways than just destroying. For example, this crane that can be released with a single whack, sending its pallet crashing down on anything right below it:
On to the main star of chapter 2: the cave spiders! While one or three of them might not be much of a threat, they can easily swarm Kalia in large numbers! Fortunately, her fire magic proves very effective in dealing with the swarm:
Next, what would be a swarm of spiders without their webs? Chapter 2 warranted the creation of a new system to apply temporary modifiers to the player and mobs, such as movement speed reduction and poison damage from spider bites. Don't worry, these webs are as fragile and flammable as they look!
Finally, a very recent development update. The boss character for chapter 2 is almost done! Here, you can see a clip of it in action:
