Fear system and vaulting

Predatory Pursuit
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Fen used to cause your screen to darken when it was near. Now, its effect on you depends on how aware it is of you.

Here’s an example of what it looks like on the most extreme setting. Your vision grows dark and blurry, and both your aim and your movement get wobbly.

Crashing into a wall will temporarily slow you down. It’s worst when you squarely hit a wall while moving backwards. Clipping a wall while running forwards should barely affect you.

I’ve added accessibility options to turn off camera shake and movement alteration (note that aim wobble counts as the latter). I haven’t checked very thoroughly to make sure I got everything, though.

You can now vault through windows by pressing space. I need to adjust it a fair bit (you have to stand back a bit to make it work right), and I also need to figure out a good way to indicate that it’s possible to vault. Still, it’s in, at least!

Prey vocals are now handled per-prey, so if Fen eats several people, you’ll hear multiple voices at once.

I fixed prey footsteps being too dang loud: they were set to play as 2D sounds, not 3D! They should actually sound correct now.

I also redid the lighting. In hindsight, low pressure sodium is kind of hideous. It’s a lot cooler now. There are also some more lights and obstacles strewn around the map, which should break things up a little.
