This release took longer than I meant for it to, but over the last couple months I’ve been re-evaluating some of the mechanics, tweaking and combining levels, and making soooo many changes to the 2D/1D physics. Perhaps most importantly, I put together some rough rules for how things should work moving forward that should hopefully keep things sane moving forward. While I was figuring all that out though, there were a ton of regressions that needed addressed. Fortunately, things have stabilize a lot, and after some testing I decided it was finally time to put this out.
Here’s what changed:
The changes to the controls are probably the most exciting part here. Previously, even I would sometimes be confused about which buttons to press in order to get the effect I wanted. I got pretty good at fixing mistakes quickly, but I knew it was important to eventually create something less error prone. So now, instead of toggling each dimension individually, you hold a button (Q or LT) to bring up a quick access menu. You then select the dimensions you want to switch to which are representing by the dimension changer boxes that you used in the first set of levels. Once you select the next dimensions and let go of the button to dismiss the menu, you can see the same previews as before and then press E or RT to commit the change. This is definitely a bit different, but I’ve found that I pretty much always select what I want on the first attempt. Hopefully the same will be true for everyone else as well. Either way, let me know how it goes!
Thanks for playing! And extra thanks for taking the time to read this. :)
