Devlog 6
The week the focus was on preparing for the Alpha presentation.
To prepare, we worked on:
- Creating a tutorial level that introduces players to new mechanics
- Adjusting our existing full level according to playtest feedback
- Continued work on player models and animations
- New models for forest/greenhouse area for future levels
- Creation of a start screen and pause menu
- Energy mechanic changed into a star reward system rather than limited energy system
- Color adjustments to environment and shaders
- Controller support and support for switching between controller types
- Improved level designs to look better and feel better to play
Challenges:
- Making sure the tutorial level is self-explanatory and not too confusing for someone who hasen't experienced the game. Getting friends/family to playtest this section specifically helped figure out a good balance.
- Start/end screen UI and controller support presented many challenges in creating an input system that can switch between inputs without breaking.
- Figuring out a visual style
- Prioritizing how much of the current level we have to include for the alpha.
