This week we raced to implement changes based on the testing session feedback. Here's a summary of the changes made so far:
The back furnace collider was fixed so ingots now cant fall behind it. This addresses a big issue we faced of players losing the ingots in the furnace.
The anvil was rescaled and edited to have a larger working area. This makes it easier to balance materials. The hammer scale was also increased to be more visible / impactful.
The anvil and grinding wheel are now locked to rotation on y, which reduces difficulty organising workshop when moving these.
Players can now rotate objects using A and D while holding.
We fixed the anvil hover indicator to be below the anvil, which was fixed by changing its pivot.
The mouse cursor was fixed to clearly show pointer location, making it easier to select stuff. This fixes the issue players experienced in testing where the mouse icon didn't properly convey its true position.
We remade the Furnace HUD to show feedback for the furnace more clearly. This is not finished yet, but the visual improvement already reads much better. This addresses the issue that players weren't sure when the ingots were heated.
Ingots now have increased friction, which makes it much easier to place them on things.
The tongs were removed as they weren't properly implemented and only distracted the players.
The flux collider was changed to a box, which is easier to place and prevents it from rolling around. This addresses the player feedback of difficulty placing the flux.
Belak Smith now pops up when the players make a mistake, such as putting flux in the furnace or submitting a dull sword. This addresses the issue we found in testing of players trying to burn the flux or being unsure of why their sword wouldn't fulfil the order.
Players can now keep a hold of the hammer while hitting the anvil, this feels more satisfying than dropping the hammer.
