An needed Update no one asked for.

Meeting the Parents
A browser Interactive Fiction made in HTML5

Hi there,

I has been well over a year since I first released Meeting the Parents. It has been almost as long since I last took a look at that project.  Since then, I have learned a great deal about coding Twine, CSS/HTML and JavaScript (just a tad there). Diving back into that code made me realised how awful for the player some passage were to interact with. From buggy game-breaking code (my bad) to obtuse settings, or the many -way too many- typos and sentences issues (in both languages), the whole thing clearly needed one last update.

But, I think this one is the one. The update to end all update. For real, this time.

FINAL CHANGE LOG:

  • Bug fix: broken links, which rendered the player stuck.
  • Bug fix: added a bug report link (bug icon on the bottom of the sidebar/press B on key board)
  • Settings: made changing languages easier, especially for French.
  • Settings: added more font settings.
  • Accessibility: the game is playable with keyboard-only (press H for info), incl. showing which key to press per link.
  • Saves: Saves settings were added, incl. a loading link in the start screen if autosaves is enabled.
  • UI: Fixed the weird text size change when scaling the window.
  • UI: Fixed the mobile sizes due to added interactive content.
  • UI: Broke the text into smaller chunks for ease of reading.
  • UI: Changed the visuals for the texts the MC received.
  • UI: Added my logo :P
  • Story: The story has been re-written, adding more content in places or re-editing of the text for the rest. I also removed unnecessary repetition. Both the grammar of the main story and its translation has been fixed. This means that at least 2k new words were added to the English version, and 4k to the French one.

Ps: thank you to the kind soul who sent me the bug reports. Very helpful!
