After three days of work, Photo Shoot mode is now available via the latest update. This new mode - which replaces the previously available Dressing Room mode - has all the same features with a lot of new things to play around with. You can now toggle in and out of camera mode and take photos of your custom waifu with a click of the button, and I've also added options for wind and lighting.
I arguably spent too much time considering options for how to frame the shots and ultimately decided on faded black areas surrounding the frame so that it was always obvious what the bounds of the final picture would be. I've also added multiple aspect ratios and the option to easily swap between landscape and portrait modes, which should cover just about every use-case scenario. This way, anyone using a screen with an aspect ratio of 16:10 could still take pictures at 16:9, and all screens will have the option of other ratios like 5:4.
New and unique to Photo Shoot mode are some controls located at the top right of the screen. I've added a slider that gives you full control over how much wind is applied to cloth physics as well as a few toggles to choose between several lighting options. On top of that, I programmed this entire system to be modular which will allow me to include it in its entirety as a mini-game within Sandbox Mode, easily accessible via the appropriate prop.
Other quick updates include the addition of brown eyes, a feature that was long overdue considering my affinity for brunettes with brown eyes. I've also separated the IK look feature from the recently added eye contact feature so you have a bit more control there via the two toggles that enable/disable them. This allows the waifu to keep their head pointed in the animation's original direction while also maintaining eye contact, and also allows you to swap off eye contact when opting to have the head follow the orbital camera. Finally, I made a few adjustments so that the dance routine sinks up to the song "Selfish" with more accuracy when first loading Playlist mode.
Next up is the item I've been waiting to tackle for a long time: shader updates. I have taken time off this coming week to focus on these updates as much as I possibly can, and although it's nearly impossible for me to estimate exactly how long this is going to take, I am hopeful that everything will be using the new shader by the end of my vacation. My first goal will be to get the waifus themselves set up with the new shader, then move on to a few test props in Sandbox Mode, and then focus on ensuring that everything works with multiple lighting situations. Once all of that has been completed and passed QC, I'll then get both Photo Shoot and Playlist modes updated to use this new shader and publish updates for those two modes so that players can take advantage while I finish up work on Sandbox Mode. It's going to be a busy week but I expect to be able to get a lot accomplished and am genuinely looking forward to wrapping up work on the first version of Sandbox Mode so I can begin leveraging all this work for the upcoming Story Mode.
