What did the quantum physicist say before the bar fight? Let me atom!
Anyway, this week we've been focused primarily on perfecting the swinging physics for the grapple gun, our main mechanic for the game.
The grappling gun has been reworked to redirect the players momentum, instead of just pulling the player towards the grappled point. It feels way more satisfying now to swing around corners and build up speed using the boost, which now has a cooldown.
We have added a crosshair that indicates whether a targeted grapple-able surface is within grappling range.
The crosshair also has a bar on each side that shows the grappling hooks boost charge.
player boosting just to watch the bars fill up
The movement systems has been completely rebuilt. It feels a lot less slippery when grounded, and allows for greater control in air.
The menu has been updated with an animated background and level button
epic menu with animated background
Level 1.4 has been roughly laid out
The lava factory, it makes lava
Level 1.4 is an old lava factory that burnt down, the player must make it to the end without falling in the giant lava lake.
The countdown now pulses and shrinks kinda, to make it more exciting
counter counting down from 3 to go, very excitingly
it also now says GO
we should probably get a non default font
Levels are now unloaded when the player is not in them. This is so if we have open levels we wont be able to see the outside of the other levels. It might help performance too idk.
Levels appearing and disappearing, wow
all levels are in the same scene because of a weird shadow glitch that happens in the version of Unity we are using when loading a level for some reason.
