More progress on the visual look on our game! - Art Lead

Crazy Cat Lady
A downloadable game

Hello! This is the Art Lead Vanessa This past week our team have been busy, my team members have been helping with the creation of our many 3D assets that decorate this town we are making. There are so many steps and things to do in making just one 3d object to put in the world. I ensure that the other guys keep the polycount low and that the texture fits the style; right now there are over 70 unique 3D items made for our game! This means each one has to be UV unwrapped and textured, which is another 140 steps to take to get closer to finishing the visual part of the game.

The process for the 3d objects is quite simple, but it takes a lot of time, at the moment most of the 3d assets have already been made and unwrapped but have yet to be textured.  Most of the 3d objects are made by combining or extruding simple shapes, with no complex mesh, and not many faces on the underside of objects, except for ones that can be knocked about. which must retain all faces on each side so the player doesn't see through them. After a 3d model is made, it's then unwrapped using Maya's UV editor, then it's centred in the scene, all history removed, and the pivot placed at the bottom of the object to make it easy to move around in Unity.
