Song of Morus is a game jam series for me to try new game idea and do creation with unusual inspiration. As the protagonist ,a teenage Taoist priestess, is originally restructured from the concept of magical girl, I frequently do submissions for Magical Girl Game Jam. But this time, apart from experimenting the meta of this anime-based idea, I also would like to develop a game to bring up my homeland's dissappearing collective memory (in a black-humour way). In end end, I created Song of Morus: Laments On the Brine.
It's a bossfight-focused 3-axis bullet-hell over-the-shoulder shooting game, on ocean. You need to control the protagonist to fight a ghost boatgirl. While dodging insane waves of three dimensions bullet patterns, you also need to defeat your own temple boat from antagonist's "surprise attack", a speeding fisher boat crashing to you. But don't worry. In extreme emegency, you can pay to your temple boat for an instant shielding that neutralizes all threat.
