This week we added the shield mechanic and switched to using the InputManager to allow for separately controlling each player - one with a mouse/keyboard, the other with a controller.
The shield is rendered using a shader that combines a hex grid overlay, transparency, and Fresnel effects. A player has a limited shield battery, which will be shown in the future in UI that currently lasts ten seconds total.
We're also still working on building some 3D assets to start building our level layout. We will be building a western themed town with straight sight lines, but also multiple paths the player can take.
We also had a go at using the DALL-E AI image generation model to create some concept art. The later image is a nice representation of how our characters form may appear
