Alpha 8 is out now!
BlacktraceA downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
In Alpha 8 of Blacktrace I focused on controller support and improving performance. To quickly debug certain performance issues I have been working on a laptop with integrated graphics. It quickly became apparent that I needed to disable a few visual effects to maintain a playable frame rate. So in the settings you can now disable shadows and detail particles.
Changes:
- Added controller support for the player character.
- Added aim assist when using a controller and rumble when shooting or getting shot.
- Added controller support in menus and on the bulletinboard.
- UI's like control layout change content based on the last used input device.
- Added setting to disable detail particles like grass, smoke, fog and leafs.
- Added setting to disable shadows.
- Edges of the folder highlight when hovering over it to make interaction more clear.
- Added first person option to the settings.
- Improved lock pick physics, making it a bit easier.
- Fixed stutter when toggling the flashlight on and off.
- Added VRAM texture compression on a lot of textures for a smaller game size and faster load times.
- Added bruise decal to characters when they are punched.
- Converted the ammo counter to the new Label3D for better performance.
- Shader preloader can now be skipped by pressing Home.
