Pre-Alpha Launch
Hi Everyone, Pocket Farm is officially launching into a pre-alpha state. Here are the things currently functional in the game:
Seeds
- Currently 72 Crops implemented
- 36 can be found in the Seed Sink
- Remaining 36 can be obtained through breeding.
- All 72 have their own unique requirements for soil type, water levels, bug infestations, space requirements, etc.
Soils
- 12 Soils in the game
- 3 main archetypes (Silt, Sand, Clay)
- Start with a base soil of one of the above archetypes and slowly add material of another archetype to modify it. (i.e. Start with a regular Clay base, as I slowly add in sand material it becomes Sandy clay, then clay sand, then pure sand).
- You can start with any base and get to any other soil type simply by adding the correct materials to it.
Breeding
- 36 Crops available to be bred.
- In order to breed you need to take two seeds that require the same soil type and plant them with a single empty tile in between also of that soil type.
- Bred crops are the most valuable crops.
Infestations
- Currently 4 types of infestations possible (Worms, Beetles, Locusts, Crickets).
- Triggered from plants that are susceptible to them (Only crops from breeding currently).
- Once triggered they stop the current tile from growing and spread to other tiles unless fought back.
- Can be fought by planting crops that repels that type of infestation (also only attainable through breeding).
Inventory System
- Scalable inventory system that automatically generates new slots for you so you never run out of space (though organization is an issue currently).
- Can drag any item around and swap it from your inventory and hotbar.
Future Features
- Mining System in the quarry zone on the left of the map.
- Bug Catching system that requires fully grown crops as bait to catch them
- Fishing system that requires crafted fishing traps.
- Crafting system to use various materials to help start fishing, automate mining, auto set farm tile water levels, etc.
