Wow a whole year has gone by and I haven't show a single thing. Worry not, development is still going, but I did take a break to avoid burning out. At this current point development has resumed. It is yet again devils RIPOSTE's anniversary and I wanted to leave at the very least a little something to let those few following this project know that I have not abandoned it.

By all means I don't think I could abandon this project in any circumstance, I've poured too much time and effort into it. Anyways I've put together a little snippet for the anniversary. It's only like 10 seconds but you get a nice look at our planned playable characters. Some faces are familiar, but we got a couple new ones in here as well. Some of the familiar faces have even undergone some pretty big design changes.

The games art style has changed drastically, not because I wanted to change it but because that was the natural progression of my style. I'm finding that the only hiccup with this is that my earlier character portraits in this new style are outmatched when compared to the portraits I've drawn more recently. I'll probably have to go back and redraw a bunch of them just so the art quality difference isn't so huge.

So with that, as you probably saw I'm hoping to get the new demo done before the end of 2022. As for how feasible that is... honestly I want to say I'm confident I can do it, but you never know. I refuse to sacrifice quality so if there is by some chance a large hiccup, I might delay it even more. It's taking a long time to get this demo where I want it, but that's because there's a lot of setup for the future being established here, so I have to be extra meticulous. Once the demo has properly been established development should speed up a ton because I won't have to worry about setting up more core systems/mechanics. Also just in general I would like to work ahead a little bit so I'm not stuck uploading absolutely all my work. Gotta have some extra stuff to tease ready to go at any time if you know what I mean.

So while I did say I'm working on the demo, I am also simultaneously working on a short mini game that will act as a prequel to devils RIPOSTE. For those that have checked my actual developer page here in itch,io I'm sure you've seen that I participated in a game jam where I hastily put together a sloppy walking sim in rpg maker. That game being null HEART. I'm working on a null HEART remake, but with it now established as a prequel to the new devils RIPOSTE.  It is partially to blame for the new devils RIPOSTE demo taking so long, but It was a necessary step to test out a story progression trick I plan on using in the full game. null HEART remake (it's got a cooler name but I'll save it for a trailer drop) should honestly be done in the next few months or so. I hope you will look forward to it.

There isn't really anything else to share without spoiling core surprises, so I'll be taking my leave so I can get back to work. Thank you for keeping an eye on the development of devils RIPOSTE.

Bzzzzt.
