I Definitely didn’t take this idea from Terraria…
But welcome to the start of a new way to get information on Pinguino! Please feel free to leave any comments on any advice or suggestions you have on Pinguino. Since I had planned to do this sooner I will also include a few other things I did from a while back and not just this month.
Wait, you don’t know what Pinguino is?
Well, it’s a simple 2D level-based runner game, that is sprinkled with a lot of fun mechanics. You play as a Penguin named Pinguino who has to make it to his Igloo home, on his way there are lots of obstacles but the most devious of them all are the Fish! Eat too many and you’ll be too fat to make it home!
The game is still in its infancy but I would recommend you try it out and let me know what you think!

Please remember everything you see here is not final and is subject to change at a moment’s notice.
First off, I’m redesigning most of the UI. So far the ones I’ve worked on are the Title Screen, Level Select, and the Achievements Screen. But I plan to also redesign the Options Menu and The Wardrobe.
Here are the newly designed screens
From the bottom of my heart, I wanna give a humongous shoutout and thanks to Mooshu Music for composing the theme for The Shop! It’s such a bop! You’ll be able to hear it in the upcoming final demo! In the meantime check out his YouTube Channel down below! https://youtube.com/@MooshuMusic
Here’s what the Shop looks like so far
(I’m planning to massively change this)
I’m also revamping the levels to be more fun and have more charm to them. In doing so I have changed the way the Terrain is handled, as previously the terrain was more freeform and loosely placed around. But now the Terrain is now made within a Tileset/Level Editor. (like Mario Maker) So now the terrain will be more exact and dynamic.
Thanks to the incorporation of the Tileset this now makes Slopes possible! There are 3 types of slopes, Sharp, Moderate, and Gentle! Depending on the steepness of the slope, when you go up you’ll slow down and when you go down you’ll speed up!
Introducing, Ground Decoration, Semi-Solid Platforms, Signs, and Gems!
I’ve slightly improved Pinguino’s sprite giving him more color and finalizing his design. As you saw earlier, the terrain’s sprite has been changed, and its design is now more variable. I’m kinda mixed on it since I’m used to the same repeating texture. But what do you think of it?
I’m revamping and hopefully finalizing all the existing levels for a final upcoming demo. After that, I plan to start working on the Saving & Loading feature + Autosave since those are integral key features in any game. Also, that level editor I mentioned is not an actual in-game level editor, just the one that my game engine provides for me. But an in-game Level Editor is planned for the far future!
