Thanks to the gamejam community's feedback, I went ahead and added a reference to the controls around the starting area.
Of particular importance is the "R" key, that allows you to reset the maggot in case you end up flipped on your head.
Removing the ability to flip the maggot would've severely diminished the fun-factor, so I opted since the beginning to implement a "reset position" key instead. That said, many players were missing the control list on the game's page, so hopefully this update will help fix that.
