The moment is finally here fellow trash pandas, our game is finished and ready for you to start playing, we would like to thank you for checking up on our progress for the last half-year and for accompanying us on our journey.
this is the last devlog so for one final time, let's look at what we did to make our game as good looking and fun as possible during this last week.
Some visual improvements were made, like a particle effect when the player lands. And the fireworks effect got reworked to be more visible at a distance.
We added controller rumble to more different events in the game. For example, when the player leaves the screen, picks up trash, or deposits it.
After the game is done, the winning team will celebrate with a little dance.
As a project gets bigger, more bugs find their way into the project. So before finishing the project many bugs had to be patched. Here are the most notable bugs:
It is now possible to stand on moving objects, like the garbage truck and even other players.
To avoid getting stuck in between invisible collision meshes or falling through the map we made sure that every mesh has proper collision to avoid all of those issues.
We made the distinction between static meshes and meshes that the player can dash through. All meshes receive a form of collision, but not every mesh needs to be dynamic. The latter kind of mesh receives a rigid body script so they move when being dashed into.
The start zone now includes in-game visuals for the control scheme and some basic rules
we also added some fun to it in the form of rigid bodies for the player to mess around with
after a lot of playtesting, we found some gaps or objects that would make it easier for the player to move if they were in a different position to avoid gaps in which the player can get stuck, etc.
we also added some more filling to places that could use some to make the world look more natural.
Along the fields in our game, you can now find grass sprites to add that little detail for our raccoons to parade their paws through.
We added rigid bodies to our game for the player to bash into, these objects will fly, roll, and tumble all over the place to add some chaos to the scene
In the previous build, trash spawn was limited and could use some tweaking, we changed the spawn positions and amount to be more balanced.
Trash now respawns after a set amount of time which is ideal for your journey back to the trash yard, but that is not all, if you bash into a trash can it also spawns trash, this was a mechanic we already made but were still tweaking
we also made some new pause screen elements which sadly did not make it in the game on time.
That's all folks, thank you for going on this journey with us and looking at our progress.
the close our devlog we have a trailer for you to enjoy and our final build ready to be downloaded
