#alpha release
Hi! Long time no devlog!
Wow, over a month since alpha 1, doesn't feel like that long. Alpha 2.0 is now available to download by testers, there's a whole host of things added and changed in this one so bear with me, this will be a longer devlog!
That's right! The new office building level has been created and assets have been implemented, these assets currently are untextured so yes, they are grey, but don't panic because in alpha 3 textures will be added.
You will also notice that in the main menu there is a second option for playing level 1, it's called "Debug Mode". I haven't seen anyone beat it yet (yes that's a challenge ;D) but it spawns enemies, hostages and items in every position possible, so it's pretty hectic, good luck!
Along with the new main level, there's another new level, the shoothouse!
The keen-eyed among you may notice that you spawn in the same room shown in the main menu, correct! This is meant to be the HQ that you are operating out of, it features a shooting range and a shoothouse, in the next update it will also feature the tutorial.
To further test the gun system we have added a shotgun, which is very useful when clearing small rooms quickly and effectively, the reload system for it is currently incorrect, I know! It's going to be changed up in alpha 2.1 don't worry.
We have also got gun models into the game, featuring muzzle flash and sounds! Keep in mind that these sounds may change over development though. Each gun also now has an icon in the inventory menu, it's a nice touch.
We now have an objectives menu in the game, now you don't need to wander around wondering if you've killed everyone, when you've completed (or failed!) your objectives a new objective will appear asking you to "Exfil", you can leave at the designated exit / exfil point. Although you can leave early too if you want to.
When loading into a level it will now place enemies, hostages and some items (desk items, magazines, etc) in random spawn points across the map, this has some potential and it will be improved over the coming updates but it adds to the game and makes it a bit more interesting. The same applies to the shoothouse.
Some other changes are as follows:
Alpha 3 will be the next major alpha of the project, it will add:
If you got to the bottom, thanks for reading, as always any feedback you have is appreciated, drop me a message. Stay tuned for more!
