Before the events of FFIV, Vargstig was a prominent sky pirate wanted by the kingdom of Baron. Vargstig flew all over the kingdom stealing and plundering riches from many of the kingdom's forts. Originally a merchant from Mysidia, Vargstig became a pirate after a fleet from Baron took down his ship. Vargstig lost it all in the attack and vowed to become the nightmare of the skies of Baron.
