New Dimension predates Tofu Sheets Visual. Last modified on the 24th of January, 2009 (so most likely I started it sometime in 2008). It was an attempt at writing my own "Choose-Your-Own-Adventure" story, because I always thought the concept of those books were cool and wanted to try my hand at it. So this wasn't even a game per se, it was a multi-route novel, written in a WordPad document.
Whilst I never finished it, I also never dreamed that writing multi-route stories would become the norm for me when I first discovered Ren'Py and got into visual novel making. In fact, I was even planning to convert this story into a visual novel, and hopefully I could've finished it that way. Despite that project not really getting off the ground, it's how I met Alexander Kwan when I was looking for voice overs and he sent me a PM on Lemmasoft with interest. I ended up casting him in "Operation: Magic Hero" where I found his voice more suitable, and started my first generation of teammates, we all became close and well... the rest is history! So this overly ambitious attempt at my own CYOA unknowingly set a series of events that has brought me here today!
So, I feel like this story is a "prototype" of sorts of what was to come. An overly ambitious project, much like a lot of my earlier works. Though unfinished, it was a lot of fun to read through it again and use it as a test subject on learning the ropes for the Twine engine. So I guess this is my first Twine game, eh?
I wanted to make a story with a lot of choices, ones that could drastically take you on different paths, as you'll see when playing through this. Originally, the default name of the character was "Tracey" (who could be male or female, depending on the reader) but for this Twine version, I opted to have where the player could type in their own name to feel more immersed.
Anyway, I hope you'll have fun reading through this extremely early work that predates my dev'ing days, yet oddly serves as a prototype to eventually making multi-route stories. If it's popular enough, I may consider bringing this project to a conclusion someday, otherwise it shall remain as is for historical purposes.
