Last Web Update!

Backpack Hero
A browser game made in HTML5

This is our final update to the web version of Backpack Hero!

If you want access to the newest content, please get a copy of the game by donating on Kickstarter!

If you cannot donate right now, please add us to your wishlist on Steam! An early access may be released before long!


Here's the changelog for the newest version!

New stuff:

  • Added a quit button in the options menu.
  • You can adjust the speed of item animations
  • 3 new legendary items

Changes:

  • Lightning bolt is now a projectile
  • Removed the encounter with two salamanders.
    Decreased salamander health slightly
  • Revised look for several enemies including King
  • Cleavers now do 4 damage
  • The Red hoodie is now clothing
  • Nunchucks now get +1 damage for each adjacent empty space
    Teddy Bear Sword now gets +2 damage for each adjacent accessory
  • Citrine now does +3 damage
  • Brutal Spear is now uncommon
  • Duct Tape is now legendary
  • The curse of honey now adds +2 slow each turn
  • Coral now adds 2 spikes before the first use

Bugs:

  • Prevented "moon-walking" while going to the map exit
  • "On Take Damage" effects only take place when the player actually takes damage
  • Vamprisim no longer procs spikes when using a projectile.
  • Vamprisim no longer creates two gems when using the pickaxe.
  • Changed the auto-save that occurs after loading. This may fix some load game glitches.
  • Fixed a glitch where SFX volume was not properly saved
  • Fixed a glitch where mouse-wood bonuses could apply to multiple arrows in a single row
  • The crooked arrow now starts facing to the right - more consistent with other arrows.
  • Fixed several bugs related to the duct-tape. Duct tape no longer causes helmets to debuff themselves.
  • Duct tape no longer causes cleavers to activate themselves. Duct tape now works with arrows.
  • Fixed "crossbow canceling" - where two crossbows could cancel each others effects
  • Fixed a glitch with cowardly enemies where the game could crash if the last non-cowardly enemy died to poison
  • Fixed a glitch where you could add 0 poison and then it would go down into the negatives
  • Fixed a glitch where curses could be stuck beneath other items and then they couldn't be placed
  • Fixed a glitch that allowed for "cramming" - where you could smash multiple items into a single slot with heavy items
  • Fixed a glitch where the shield spirit would not work with Hercule Pavise
  • Fixed a glitch where vampire bats could still heal when you dodged their vampire attack
