First post!

Oh, wait.

So this is actually the first game I've ever released to the world.  After all those half-scribbled pages of notes and reams of project binders that went nowhere, it feels good to actually *finish* something.

And it's something I'm really proud of!  Working on this project actually gave me momentum--what the cool kids are calling "flow" or possibly something else--and given how hard the past few years have been on the world, that's a big, big plus.

Much appreciation to those eager playtesters who helped in so many ways.  Sharing this work at all was a nerve-wracking mental hurdle for me.  I feel a lot better now about letting the unfinished work hold up on its own merits and knocking off the bits that don't work so well.  The game is much better for it.

This game deals with losing friends, sudden upheavals, and living with grief.  Children are especially vulnerable to these emotional disasters.  That's why I'm encouraging donations to the Children's Grief Center of New Mexico.  Any money that comes my way from this project will go there.

That said, I built in as much fun and adventure as I could without watering down the pathos.  The game is based on the excellent Wretched and Alone SRD, yet I want you to feel neither wretched nor alone.  The ridiculous and inevitable demise of the Redshirt strikes the right balance, I think.

I hope you enjoy the game.  And if you're comfortable (or at least willing), please share your experience with it!
