#update #release #open-source
Strange Winds is now open-source! Thanks to everyone who played and commented on the game for the original jam.
The code is licensed under the GPLv3. you can see/contribute to it here: https://github.com/YuriNikolai/StrangeWinds
The version on the top of the page here on itch is now a post-jam release with fixes and improvements based on player feedback. The original jam release is also preserved on a separate branch on the GitHub repo.
Changelog for version 1.0.1
-Added visual change on reticle when rifle is ready to fire again
-Rewrote hit detection. No more bullets annoyingly "sliding" off of enemies!
-Unique particles for flare vs. rifle hits on enemies; remade original particle effects
-Rewrote particle emitter logic, will now spawn where the bullet impacted the enemy instead of in his center
-Cleaned up file structure
Changelog for hotfix 1.0.2
Unexpectedly, some pretty major bugs were discovered (or created somewhere along the process) right as I released 1.0.1. This release should hopefully fix the direst one, and deploys a temporary if a little code-spaghetti fix for the other.
- Fixed enemies sometimes not dying after reaching zero health
- Temp. fix for crash when rifle shot hits flare shot
