A good amount of time has passed since the last devlog and tons of changes have been done in the game. So this will be a big one!
Now the game has all the levels I wanted it to have. A total of 120 levels split between 20 missions with an updated difficulty curve to fit better the player skill evolution.
A new mechanic was introduced, now enemies leave traps when they make groups. These traps have different but predictable effects so the player can understand and plan to avoid or even use them. They appear in the more advanced levels when the player already has more skill.
These provide more depth to the game, requiring the player to do much more planning to be able to win even against all this types of elements.
New animations for level unlock, mission win, level lose and beating the game.
Visual feedback of the state of the game was improved all around:
Allows the control of sound and the resolution of the game window.
Added restart level button in the corner of the play area so the player can restart the level if he doesn’t want to continue with the current try.
Now 4 characters cannot fall directly in a row, this was a case that made the player predictions useless.
Removed the level start screen since it only added more click without any real advantage.
The part that is now missing the most work is the UI all around the game. HUD elements, some sprites where done as development art and need to be reworked, animations, texts, some screens need to be reorganized, etc.
Other than that most of the game is reaching the point for me to consider it done, so the next version will probably be the release one.
