Pulled in basic bits from 7DRL 2022

Fruit Economy
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux

This is a really minor update really, a lot of work to get not too far from where we started =)…

So I’ve started to pull in and rewrite chunks of the game based on what I coded up in the 7drl 2022.

Where is this at?

Version 0.0.4:

Let’s pull in some screenshots:

So not too much visibly different here, yes the alignment is a bit messed up, there’s definitely some cleanup to do there, but on the other hand, we’ve got a sidebar now, so we can start swapping between the screens. As well as the status bar displaying which should hopefully end up being a nice place to start putting resources.

The Economy screen also looks a little forlorn and basic, I need to probably take apart the dot diagram approach and start asking what kind of information would be worthwhile displaying here and what would be good ways of exploring that?

The one clear beneficiary of this has been the log screen, it just seems to be a lot more readable.

All in all, it’s still a bit all over the place and some thinking and iterating will be required on my side as I work out how to mix the 7DRL’s single player perspective into the economy sim’s larger focus on simulation. I might just double down on the single player perspective until there’s enough stuff there for things to be interesting.

Also, though the 7DRL’s scope was small, the actual focus of the experience was a lot more straightforward. So I’m going to spend a bit of time thinking about how to bring that focus back into this, which will hopefully make the play experience more enjoyable.
