Note: This game is being developed for the Skills USA Interactive Application and Video Game Creation competition, this competition is set up in three phases (regionals, state, and nationals). Thus far the game has passed regionals and is now heading to state come mid to late April.
Plan for Phase Two:
The plan for phase two is to redo the first level of the game. We decided to remove the character creator, replacing it with a mission selector and a single player character. For now there is only one mission, but should the game pass state the plan is to add another one or two. Level 1 is set up in four section with the first one being dedicated to the tutorial, which leaves three sections for actual gameplay. In the current playable version of the game, the enemies are fairly basic and not that engaging, we have removed those as well and are making new enemies with hopefully more entertaining mechanics. Frequent updates can be found over on Instagram at @bread_winner_skillsusa • Instagram photos and videos. Here is the work done so far.
Section 3: For section three the main mechanic will be magical seals (second image) that bounce of the walls and colliders of other objects (ex: the player, the boundaries, the roofs of houses, etc) at random angles and random speeds (within a range). The boss of this section will be a sentient magical seal (first image) that spawns these magical symbols in addition to having a few other attack patterns as well. Its first attack pattern is doing what the other magical symbol does, but gaining speed over time before abruptly stopping. The second attack pattern is spawning the wave of seals. And the third is shooting a straight line along all 90 degree angles. The boss will also be able to semi-dodge/attack when alerted of the players movement. The schedule is to have this done sometime by next week.
