Devlog #17 - First Patch

Hey guys !
Damn it's been a while, almost a month since the release !
For a game without any communication budget, the sales are doing good, and the release opened new door for me :
And this week I published a update to fix some bugs , add a minimap and minor changes.
For the debug, I fixed :
- The Bulbomatic player detection : with a long playthrough the events were messing around and the player couldn't get the bulbs needed for his progress. Guess I didn't playtested strongly enough^^
- The prompts in the Settings menu were a total mess : I was asking too many confirmation and the widget focus didn't follow. I just removed the useless questions (in the end, the player knows the settings are not applied if the screen or the music stay the same)
- I discovered that stranger player had to apply again their language, so I added the culture to the player data (hope it didn't screwed the player saves xD)
- Keyboard control calibration : I didn't test enough the game with a keyboard, so I fixed the main issues but I couldn't redesign the whole game to fit for keyboard control... There is some issues that can not be fully fixed.
And it wasn't anticipated, but I took some time also to add the minimap.
First of all, I wanted that players had to make up there own mind map of the place, but some floors could be quite "miss-leading ". So I thought of a compromise :
- the player wont get the full map,
- it will appear after one minute on the floor
- the zoom will give player only hints about the walls nearby
- its design will be a bit blurred, wavy to look like an imprecise idea of the surroundings.
So here we are ! Now I am full focus on the communication and learning how to fund my studio and hopefully the next game I publish will be the Essence Of The Tjikko full adventure :D
