Airplanes, Special Character, and Story?

High Strangeness
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux

I need to make another devlog to keep track of everything. I got a lot of irons in the fire when it comes to this game.

I recently added an airplane as a set piece. It flies a specific route every 60 seconds. I made a little audio loop of a biplanes engine and added it to a 2d audio node. So you can hear the airplane from a ways away, and the volume gets louder as you get closer. I all ready had drawn the pixel art airplane. I just needed to animate it.

I also added a new special NPC named Bob. There is a smaller chance the people you abduct will have a memory of Bob. Bob has a memory of a secret location on the map that holds an item needed to win the game. I think my plan is to have a locked area of the map that only gets revealed once you probe Bob and then follow Bob to the secret location and only then it unlocks. I think it would be funny to have the player have to follow a slowly moving NPC. Maybe it would be annoying but it might be funny.

I want to tell a subtle story you can piece together through the descriptions of the things you abduct. I also want to add a newspaper that pops up on screen. It will report on the things you have done in game, and have funny text with some running jokes. I'm not a writer so it's difficult for me to just come up with something compelling and funny, but I got all the time in the world so I will think about it while I work.

I'm going to wait till everything is more ironed out before I upload a newer version of the downloadable game. I think the current version shows off the potential of the game well enough for now. I would love to hear some feedback, there is probably some brilliant idea I haven't thought of yet.
