Hi everyone!
Thanks for downloading Wordlebuilding! I hope you’ve been enjoying it. I have a couple of updates to talk about.
Firstly, I‘ve uploaded a screenreader-friendly HTML version that just contains text, with alt text replacing the example image and table. I initially tried to make the main digital PDF screenreader-accessible, but for whatever reason it seems like the accessibility features in LucidPress don't transfer over well when the PDF is exported; to make that work I would need to do the layout stage all over again in a different (and likely expensive) programme. I hope this is an okay alternative; I’d love to hear feedback from screenreader users about whether this works for you, as well as any improvements I could make when writing alt text in the future. You can download the screenreader-friendly version from the attachment to this post, or from the main project page.
Secondly, as you may have heard, shortly after Wordlebuilding was released, Wordle was bought by the New York Times. They’ve publicly stated that Wordle will "initially remain free", but it's likely that they'll try to monetise it in some way (whether that's through ads or paywalled content) at some point in the future. So in the interest of making Wordlebuilding as approachable as possible, here are some links to independently owned free alternatives:
I've stuck those links on the main project page as well.
Finally, if you haven’t seen it already, Wordlebuilding got a shoutout in this Polygon article about The Wordle Jam! The article also talks about lots of other really great submissions to the jam, so I recommend checking it out if you want to see a rundown of what other people made.
That's all for now! Take care, folks <3
