Hello you! I'm happy to share today Blocks and Beats, a synesthetic, musical puzzler. I've always loved games that fuse their gameplay, music, and visuals into a singular experience, so I hope you enjoy this tribute and love letter to its (hopefully obvious) inspirations. This initial release features 3 songs with unique, reactive graphics that evolve as you play and clear more lines, and the game will continue forever as the blocks drop ever faster. A huge thank you to my collaborators Jeff Ramos and fós for injecting this game with their music, art, and style.
I'm not sure what the future holds for this project. I'd love to add more levels, more modes, more blocks and more beats! Please let me know what you think of the game. If there's interest, I'd be happy to post more devlogs about the creation of the game, and how I designed the musically reactive levels.
