Weekly Update #9 - Introducing a new character

Seed of Life
A downloadable game

It would have taken me two weeks, but now I am finally done with the implementation of this new character. It started last week with a simple concept art, and it is now fully modeled, textured, and integrated within the engine, with lipsync and everything. Of course, there are a few things I could have done better, especially with retopology, but overall I am happy with the final result, and I’ll be sure to apply the things I’ve learned along the way next time. Here’s the full list:

  • New Assets: Viðir’s textures and materials
  • Implementation of Viðir in the engine (lipsync, animations, interaction, physics, etc…)
  • New Asset: Viðir’s backpack and its textures

Objectives for next update

  • Implementation of a new enemy: the Orbweaver, an upgraded version of the Lesser Orbweaver. It will be able to move faster and fire projectiles.

General information: I will take a break next week from working on Seed of Life in order to focus on my music. I have a few tracks behind schedule that I need to finish writing and recording. That means, no Weekly Update next week, instead you will have a new article about Designing Seed of Life. That also means that today’s “Objectives for next update” will be dealt with two weeks from now.
