#Update #Secret of the Island #Project 2 #2021
Hello my friends
This week was spent mostly on code and the story. I also created a few images, but barely got a start there.
I decided on an end point for the next release. I originally had an idea for longer releases less often, but now I am working toward releasing smaller updates more often. I just hope it isn’t too small.
Story – The next release is done.
I am essentially done with the writing for the next release. As always, I say essentially because as everything moves along, I will rewrite the dialog and events so they better fit what is being rendered. Also giving me another chance to go through the story I can polish it.
Code (i.e., Ren’Py) – Core is done… for the most part
I have not exactly made the code for the VN as “sophisticated” as I wanted, but it functions. From your point of view, it won’t make a difference.
The entire story has been moved into the VN. It’s still fairly simple, so I am not sure it needs any beta release to test.
Art – Season 1 Scenes started.
Just starting to get the scenes created, so just a couple so far.
Final Thoughts:
Since the theme of my game is an old sitcom, I was going to release each section as a “Season”. I had intended on 5 seasons in total, with the possibility of extending it if it was popular enough.
But I have to agree with one comment that I should put out the game in smaller chunks more often. I just need to make sure I have a good balance of content and time. I don’t want to put out 2 minutes of story just to get it out quicker, but at the same time I don’t want people feeling like they are waiting forever for the next update.
But I can already see that I am getting into a grove with this, and am very happy with how my production is moving along.
As always, enjoy life.
